This Privacy Policy describes how GoalCalcs.com ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our website. The short version: the calculators work without an account, everything you save belongs to you and is stored on our own server, we never connect to your bank, and you can export or permanently delete your data at any time from your profile.

Information You Give Us

Most of GoalCalcs works without an account and without giving us anything. If you choose to sign in and save your work, we store the following, tied to your account:

• Sign-in details: You sign in with Attereon ID. It tells us your Attereon account number and username, and nothing else: not your email address, not your password. We also keep a record of each signed-in session (when it started, when it was last used, and when it expires) so we can keep you signed in and let you see it in your data export.
• Saved calculations: The calculator inputs you choose to save (loan amounts, rates, terms, and similar), along with the names you give them.
• Financial profile: If you fill it in on your profile page, an optional income and expenses figure used to prefill calculators.
• Tracked accounts (My Accounts): The details you type in to track a real loan or savings account — account names, balances, interest rates, payments and their due day, goals, planned payments, the payment records you enter (missed or changed payments, extra payments, charges and fees), and the history of balance updates you enter. These numbers are self-reported by you. We never connect to your bank or lender, never ask for bank credentials, and have no way to verify or pull your real account data.
• Statement imports: When you paste or upload payment history, the file is read and parsed entirely in your browser — it is never uploaded to our servers. Only the specific results you choose to apply (balance points and a detected recurring payment) are saved to your account; the rest is discarded when you leave the page.

Information We Collect Automatically

We may collect certain information automatically when you visit our website, including:

• Server logs: Like any web server, ours records each request: your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user-agent string, the referring page, and the time. We use these logs to keep the site running and secure, and they are deleted after about two weeks.
• Cookies: We use cookies only to sign you in and keep you signed in — never for analytics or advertising. gc_session holds your sign-in (it can't be read by the page's scripts and lasts up to 30 days, or until you sign out), gc_signed_in simply tells the page that you are signed in, and gc_login protects the sign-in hop to Attereon ID and expires after 10 minutes. If you refuse cookies, the calculators still work but signing in won't.
• On your device: Some tools remember the numbers you last typed so they are still there on your next visit. That is kept in your browser's local storage, never sent to us, and you can clear it in your browser settings.
• County loan limits: When you enter a ZIP code to check your county's loan limit, your browser asks our server for a public file covering the first three digits of that ZIP; the full ZIP code is never sent. Like any request, that one appears in the server logs above.

Third-Party Services

We keep third parties to a minimum:

• Visit statistics: Our public pages collect anonymous, aggregate visit statistics using our own self-hosted system — no cookies, no third parties, no advertising trackers, and nothing that can identify you or follow you across days or sites. The numbers you type into calculators are never part of it, and signed-in areas like My Accounts collect nothing about your visit. It also counts which features get used, such as printing a result, downloading a schedule or copying a calculator's embed code, so we know what to improve; a count says which feature, never your numbers. When something breaks, the same system records an error report: the error's message and the page's path, never what you entered.
• Where your data lives: Your saved calculations, financial profile, and tracked accounts are stored in a database on GoalCalcs' own server, which we operate on a server rented from DigitalOcean. The database is not part of any outside service, and no one else processes it for us.
• Attereon ID: Attereon ID is the sign-in service run by Attereon, the maker of GoalCalcs. When you sign in, it tells GoalCalcs your Attereon account number and username. It never receives your calculations or account data. Your Attereon ID account is managed at id.attereon.com, separately from your GoalCalcs data.
• Cloudflare: Our pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which protects the site from attacks and abuse. As your requests pass through it, Cloudflare processes network information such as your IP address and browser details, and may run a small check in your browser to tell people from bots. It does not receive what you save.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain our website, including storing and showing you your own saved data
• Improve, personalize, and expand our website
• Understand and analyze how you use our website
• Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
• Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities in connection with our website

All forecasts, payoff dates, progress views, and charts are computed on your device from the numbers you entered — the derived results are not stored. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share the financial figures you enter with advertisers or data brokers.

Share Links

Some tools offer a "share" button that creates a link carrying what you entered inside the link itself, so the recipient sees your scenario instead of the defaults. For example, a Debt Payoff Planner share link carries the debt list you typed — the names, balances, rates, and payments. The values ride after the "#" in the link, a part of the address browsers never send to a website, so opening a share link doesn't send them to our server, our analytics or Cloudflare. Anyone who has such a link can see that information, so only share it with people you trust. A share link carries only the values shown in that tool when you made it. If you opened a saved calculation or loaded your tracked accounts into the tool first, those values are included. It never carries your identity or anything else from your account.

Your Choices and Rights

• Use without an account: Every calculator works without signing in. Signing in is only needed to save.
• Export: From your profile page you can download a copy of everything we store for you — your saved calculations, financial profile, and tracked accounts — as a JSON file.
• Delete individual items: You can delete any saved calculation or tracked account at any time from within the site.
• Delete your account: From your profile page you can permanently delete your GoalCalcs account. In one step this removes your saved calculations, financial profile, tracked accounts, and sessions from our database. Your Attereon ID sign-in is separate and is not deleted.

Data Retention

We keep the data you save for as long as your account exists. When you delete an item or your account, it is removed from our database immediately. We take a backup of the database every night and before each update of our software; backups stay on our own server and are deleted after 14 days, so deleted data is gone from them within two weeks. Server logs are deleted after about two weeks.

Security of Your Information

Your saved data is transmitted over HTTPS, and our server only ever shows or changes the data that belongs to your signed-in session. Your session is stored on our side only as a one-way hash, so even a copy of the database could not be used to sign in as you. The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date above.
